Today, I baked my classic molasses crinkles! The recipe came from my great-great grandmother Annie!
I found this recipe interesting because she said to put a few drops of water on each cookie before it goes in the oven. This is not a usual step I see in baking so I assume that it adds more moisture to the cookie.
This cookie is very soft and delicious. It is another perfect holiday treat!
Molasses Crinkles
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp molasses
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp cloves
Instructions
Cream sugar and butter. Add egg and beat well. Add molasses and beat again. Add in rest of the ingredients and beat until well mixed. Chill at least 2 hours. Roll dough into small balls & dip top in sugar. Place on a greased baking sheet or use parchment paper. Put a few drops of cold water on each cookie. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
