Danish Sugar Cookies

This recipe came from my 3x great grandmother Marta Christina Clemmensdatter who was from Denmark. I am so thankful that our family recipes have been past down to many generations.

These cookies were also served at my parents wedding reception back years ago. They are perfectly crispy and delicious!

Danish Sugar Cookies

Danish Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Instructions

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar together. Add to creamed mixture. Blend until well combined. Make the dough into small balls then press flat with bottom of a glass cup. Bake 350 for 10 minutes or until golden. After the cookies cool for 2 minutes, sprinkle granulated sugar on top.
